Dear Students, Friends, and Partners:

On behalf of The Institute for Lifelong Learning and Workforce Innovation, I would like to express our excitement, pride, and enthusiasm for what we are accomplishing everyday with our learners. The Institute is a vibrant community of learners found in the nation’s capital of Washington, DC. For close to 20 years, we have been a driving force for positive change in the lives of diverse learners. We strive to set the standard for high quality education and student-centered services. Education as we know, is important and we encourage our learners to use their knowledge to promote communities and workplaces where amazing outcomes for everyone occurs. Recently, we have seen recent events in our nation that in some ways cast a shadow to the successes that have been made in our country. During this unprecedented moment in history, we must view this time as a call to action. We, as a collective group, must take up this call to action to provide environments and practices that are diverse, inclusive, equitable and just for everyone.

As learners earn credentials from The Institute, we encourage them to continue in life with a fire to do well for themselves, their family, people important to them and the world around them. Our academic programs support students in expanding intellectual curiosity and through exceptional experiences propel learners to achieve their goals. It is our belief that students, staff and alumni feel a sense of accomplishment in a shared feeling of personal satisfaction and success. My role as Chancellor is to focus on academic excellence and civic engagement as the cornerstone of the work of the Institute. More specifically, I preside over academic quality, financial health, climate and culture, innovation, growth, and the reputation of The Institute.
